It's been a rough week....

It's never fun when the kiddos are sick. And, it's especially no fun if mommy is the one that caused it! On Monday night I made a quesadilla for the kids, but the cheese I put inside had expired over a month ago. (It was green and moldy so I didn't check the date...) Anyway, an hour later Cason was puking. An hour after that Cassidee was puking. Both threw up in bed. (Cason in his own bed, Cassidee is MY bed---UGH!) Luckily they are both feeling much better now.
-
We made Cassidee a bed on our floor because I was afraid she'd throw up in the middle of the night. (Which she did, and I was glad I was close by to get her to the toilet) Cassidee and Cason have enjoyed lounging on the bed that is still in my floor!

It was really cute to go in last night and see them laying down together and watching cartoons. I think Cassidee is going to be pretty bummed when she has to sleep in her own bed tonight!

Hmmmm, I just realized that I did a post about my kids stomach issues.....
There must not be much going on at our house otherwise!

Hook 'Em Horns!

No, I'm not talking about UT....
Jeremy and I took Cassidee and Cason to see the longhorns walk down Exchange in the Stockyards on Thursday. Cassidee kept saying, "Look mommy, hook 'em horns." I guess she doesn't know their real name. It was a pretty cool thing to go watch.

Cassidee and Cason intently watching...

Jeremy and Cason looking in the longhorn pen.

Cassidee struck a pose by the fence. Cutie pie!

Party like a rock star....

I wish I had a better picture of the red mohawk on the top of his head! Thanks to Amie for jazzing up Cason's "do" before his birthday party!
He enjoyed his cake! There wasn't much left of it when he was done!

And the bigger kids enjoyed the bounce house and water slide! Check out Cassidee's wide open mouth! She played so hard with Cal, Delancey, and all the kids at the party, and slept until 10 the next day! That's why mommy loves the water slide!
Thanks to everyone who came to celebrate with us!

Just some summer fun....

Once a stinker, always a stinker!
Since this is the only cabinet that he gets into in my kitchen, it is now Cason's cabinet. He can put in and take out whatever he wants to.

That includes himself sometimes!
Cason had his first taste of watermelon on Sunday!

Trying to figure out what part is the best....

I'd say it was a huge (messy) hit!

I don't know how he'll wait till 16 to get his license.
This kid loves to drive!

Another first for Cason:
CUPCAKES!
Luckily Charlie and Cassidee didn't mind eating some with Cason!

Thing 1 and Thing 2?!

So far, so good!

Still working on it....

....wait, gimme some more!

That's 2 tired babies after a hot day at CDR!

Our Little Man is 1 Today!

July 8, 2008 didn't start out as a great day, but by the day's end, it was one of the best days of my life. I felt terrible when I woke up that morning. Dizzy, bad headache, pretty much all the symptoms of high blood pressure. After passing out twice, and Jeremy taking me to the hospital, Cason was scheduled to be born by c-section that afternoon. I found out later that I scared quite a few friends when I sent a text message to some people saying "I'm having a c-section around 5 so Cason will be born today." Then I turned off my phone and no one knew why he was coming early or what the deal was.....

Cason Gage Broom was born at 36 weeks and 3 days via c-section on July 8, 2008 at 4:58 pm.

He was 6 lbs. 7 oz. and 19 inches long, just like his sister was.

My first meeting with him was short but super sweet!

Since he was a little early he needed some extra oxygen and was taken to the NICU immediately. He hung out in the NICU with our Ford friends for 5 days before we were able to take him home. He was jaundice and under the bili lights. This is still one of my favorite funny pictures of him! NICU=super scary for a mommy who isn't expecting it, so this is just an extra big "THANK YOU" to my friend Amie for coming to see Cason on the first night in the NICU with me and asking all the "right questions" for me. ;)

Big sister Cassidee was so thrilled to meet Cason. She still loves him more than anyone!

This is my all-time favorite picture of them. It's not the best picture ever, it's just how I remember our very first night at home together!

(okay, and now the tears are forming in my eyes....)

Our family hasn't stayed home much since Cason was born!

At 4 months we drove all the way to Colorado for Thanksgiving!

When he was 6 months old we stayed out at Camp Deer Run for the weekend!

At 11 months he got to spend almost a whole week at the lake!

Cason is a sports fan like his daddy. Most Sunday afternoons are spent in daddy's lap in the recliner watching football!

And his blue eyes melt me every time!

He's changed so much and is so fun now!

My little one year old!
He is such a stinker sometimes......

.....but he's so cute that I don't get too mad!
See? Stinker! Mommy's trying to take your picture!
He got woken up this morning by Cassidee singing Happy Birthday to him.

He loves his sister! And she loves him!
*He knows what a cow says, but he says "Mmmmm" instead of "Mooooo"
*He knows what a monkey says and opens his mouth really wide to say "Ah, ah, ah"
*If you ask him how old he is and you tell him to say "one" he will (most of the time) hold up his index finger.....pat Cassidee on the back for teaching him that!
*He loves, loves, loves his daddy and says "Da-eeee" when Jeremy walks in the room!
*He also loves Cassidee and says something similar to "daddy" when he sees her (we are teaching him to call her Dee Dee)
-
Cason,
We love you so much and couldn't ask for a more fun little boy. Thank you for lighting up our lives and for bringing us pure joy each and every day!
Love,

Mommy, Daddy, and Dee Dee
