Our Little Man is 1 Today!

July 8, 2008 didn't start out as a great day, but by the day's end, it was one of the best days of my life. I felt terrible when I woke up that morning. Dizzy, bad headache, pretty much all the symptoms of high blood pressure. After passing out twice, and Jeremy taking me to the hospital, Cason was scheduled to be born by c-section that afternoon. I found out later that I scared quite a few friends when I sent a text message to some people saying "I'm having a c-section around 5 so Cason will be born today." Then I turned off my phone and no one knew why he was coming early or what the deal was.....

Cason Gage Broom was born at 36 weeks and 3 days via c-section on July 8, 2008 at 4:58 pm.

He was 6 lbs. 7 oz. and 19 inches long, just like his sister was.

My first meeting with him was short but super sweet!

Since he was a little early he needed some extra oxygen and was taken to the NICU immediately. He hung out in the NICU with our Ford friends for 5 days before we were able to take him home. He was jaundice and under the bili lights. This is still one of my favorite funny pictures of him! NICU=super scary for a mommy who isn't expecting it, so this is just an extra big "THANK YOU" to my friend Amie for coming to see Cason on the first night in the NICU with me and asking all the "right questions" for me. ;)

Big sister Cassidee was so thrilled to meet Cason. She still loves him more than anyone!

This is my all-time favorite picture of them. It's not the best picture ever, it's just how I remember our very first night at home together!

(okay, and now the tears are forming in my eyes....)

Our family hasn't stayed home much since Cason was born!

At 4 months we drove all the way to Colorado for Thanksgiving!

When he was 6 months old we stayed out at Camp Deer Run for the weekend!

At 11 months he got to spend almost a whole week at the lake!

Cason is a sports fan like his daddy. Most Sunday afternoons are spent in daddy's lap in the recliner watching football!

And his blue eyes melt me every time!

He's changed so much and is so fun now!

My little one year old!
He is such a stinker sometimes......

.....but he's so cute that I don't get too mad!
See? Stinker! Mommy's trying to take your picture!
He got woken up this morning by Cassidee singing Happy Birthday to him.

He loves his sister! And she loves him!
*He knows what a cow says, but he says "Mmmmm" instead of "Mooooo"
*He knows what a monkey says and opens his mouth really wide to say "Ah, ah, ah"
*If you ask him how old he is and you tell him to say "one" he will (most of the time) hold up his index finger.....pat Cassidee on the back for teaching him that!
*He loves, loves, loves his daddy and says "Da-eeee" when Jeremy walks in the room!
*He also loves Cassidee and says something similar to "daddy" when he sees her (we are teaching him to call her Dee Dee)

I don't know what the magic is with mama's and boys..whenever they are naughty they just flash a smile and mommy melts. I guess that's why little girls are daddy's girls!

Can't believe he's one. That means we have a first birthday coming way too soon too!
