I just hope he doesn't hate me someday....

I can already hear it.
Someday when Cason looks back at these pictures he will say, "Gee mom, why did you cut my hair like that?" My brilliant idea of using Jeremy's clippers on Cason's hair didn't turn out the way I had planned.....
-
Cason has great hair. It's pretty thick and has just enough wave to it that it's not curly or straight. I love it. But, I'm not a fan of long hair on boys, so I trim it atleast every other week. Mostly over his ears, in the front, or I fix his "duck tail" that he grows very well. I usually just trim it all over with scissors, but he isn't very patient anymore. I thought that clippers would speed the process......
Here is the before shot.....
See, cute little curls in the back (that form a duck tail when it dries).

Thanks to Cassidee for the "in process" shots.
And you know it's bad when Cassidee put the camera down in the middle of the whole thing and says "Holy Moly that's short!" Oh Great!

He actually sat really still and just looked at me in the mirror.

The back didn't look so bad.....

But the front.....my goodness! It is super different.
This picture is terrible and I don't know what is going on with the background lighting, but hopefully you can tell that it's really short.

When I called Jeremy and told him what I did he said, "You used a 2? All over? That's really short!" Uh, YEAH! I wish I had called him before I started cutting.....
But, like Jeremy said, it'll be back to normal in about 2 weeks!

That's what boys are made of....

Cassidee, Cason and I decided to go outside and enjoy the slightly cooler weather due to last night's rain. They were having a ball riding on the jeep and 4-wheeler and playing on the swing set. I ran inside to get a drink, check my phone, and was gone less than 3 minutes. I am glad I brought my camera when I came back out.
-

Cason immediately shows me what he's found.....yup, mud!

I decide to just let him at it.....we didn't have any plans for the day and it just might make him even more tired for his afternoon nap!
-
So, he tried to eat a little.....

Here he looks like he drank a little!

He figured out that it smeared really well on his legs!

A close up of the damage!

I kinda love days like today. We were outside for over an hour just playing. Aside from Jeremy not getting to play with us, it was a really great morning with my kiddos!
-
And, I've decided that boys are just made out of something completely different than girls. Cassidee loves her fair share of mud....but she makes mud pies, and little mud patties, and decorates them with grass clippings. Cason rubbed the mud all over his body, smeared mud on my back door, and ate some of it. Boys are so weird sometimes!

He's almost got it.....

Cason hasn't slowed down yet, so I can't wait to see what he does tomorrow.

And, to my mother-in-law: if Cason walked today while you were keeping my kids, and you let me just be surprised with his new trick, (like he did it for me first) thank you! :)

Cassidee vs. Mommy.....Who won?

(A little back-ground story....Cassidee hasn't been eating well lately. She won't hardly eat anything. We usually give her a favorite or two, plus a veggie that she doesn't care for too much....)

Mommy: Cassidee, as soon as you eat everything on your plate, you're going upstairs to take a nap.

Cassidee: (after eating everything except a few grapes and her peas) I'm ready to take a nap now.

M: No, you still have to finish your peas. I don't care if you sleep in the chair, you're not getting up until they're gone.

(Don't turn me in for being mean either....I only gave her 4 peas....)

Then I left the kitchen for 10 minutes to put Cason in bed and to fold a basket of laundry.

This is what I found when I returned.......

You might think that the story ends here and she won for falling asleep at the table.....WRONG!
She was faking. It was kinda funny because I really did think she was asleep. 2 minutes after snapping the pictures, and a few tears, the peas were gone and she was in bed!
Yet another small victory for mommy!

We Saw Chickasaw!

On Tuesday we took a random and impromptu road trip with my parents to Oklahoma. Growing up, my family would go camping at Chickasaw National Park....which is where my mom camped when she was growing up. Jeremy had never been there, and obviously our kids hadn't either, so my mom had a great time showing them all the fun stuff we do there. We didn't get to spend the night, but we had a great time walking thru the creeks, playing in the spring water (which is freezing!), jumping off of and climbing up water falls, and eating a picnic lunch. The kids loved it and Jeremy has already said that we will go camping there next summer! Thanks mom and dad for the fun day trip!
