Cassidee Broom--the next Daisy Duke

Another fun part of our Tennessee weekend was going thru the Dukes of Hazzard museum. There were replica cars, all the old memorabilia, and t-shirts galore! For $5 you could actually go sit in the cars to take your picture. We figured that Cassidee will never really understand why we were taking these pictures of her on these cars, but maybe someday she'll have a small appreciation for it....

Our Tennessee Weekend

I still can't do the picture thing on blogger very well. These pictures are not in order at all, but I'll go thru and explain the best I can....

Pic #1- We rode on the General Jackson on Sunday afternoon. It's a river boat where we enjoyed a buffet lunch and country music show. It was a fun float down the river.

Pic #2-Cassidee's first airplane ride. She was exactly 6 months old on Friday and we left that morning for Nashville. She did really great! She was a social butterfly. She would turn around in the seat and talk to the people behind and beside us. That is probably why the guy next to Jeremy is listening to his IPOD...

Pic #3-On Saturday afternoon we had to run to the mall to find me a dress. Yes, I searched and searched in Lewisville for a dress for the wedding. I finally found one and, of course, I left it at home. It was still hanging in our closet when we got home on Monday....anyway....we went to the mall to find me a dress and ended up eating lunch at the Aquarium restaurant. It was great. It really kept Cassidee (and Jeremy) entertained! Jeremy says he wants a fish tank like this in our house??!!

Pic #4-Our family at the wedding. My husband looked so handsome in his tux! Too bad I didn't really see any of the wedding because Cassidee and I were in the cry room with another groomsmen's wife and child! Oh well, they had fun playing together!

Pic #5-We had airplane tickets to leave Nashville on Sunday night at 7:00. Jeremy and I ended up each taking $500 vouchers for a flight the next day. American put us up in a nice hotel and we enjoyed one more night in Nashville. Too bad we had no luggage and came home in the clothes we had worn all day the day before. Hope we didn't stink up the plane....And, how clean are you really when you take a shower and put all the dirty clothes back on? Is that shower even worth it??? :)

All in all we had a fantastic trip. It was nice to take a mini vacation and take Cassidee on a trip with us. There were a lot of "firsts" for her. Her first plane ride, her first trip out of the state of Texas, her first wedding, her first trip to the Dukes of Hazzard museum. Pictures of those in the next post.....

She's 6 months already?!

I can't believe Cassidee is already 6 months old! Seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital! It's amazing to see what all she has learned how to do in the last 6 months. She sits on her own, plays and keeps herself occupied (for a little while), tries to crawl, "talks" to everyone around her, and wants to stand up and hold on to things. Time has flown by!

She loves the ducky water mat!

She's already scholarly--reading her Elmo book!
Sitting by herself, looking at her cups!

Happy half birthday, Cassidee! We love you!

What a fun weekend!

Let me start with a little background story about this photo. No, it's not a recent shot. This was taken back at the end of January. This was at my baby shower for Cassidee. Jodi was a couple of months pregnant there also. The four of us took a "normal" picture together, but then thought it would be funny if all of us poked out our tummies like we were pregnant. (some of us didn't have to try to poke it out...) Anyway, a few weeks later we found out that in that picture Rachel really was pregnant. (Lindsay is not...so she says...) So....

Now, I have had Cassidee, Jodi has had Reagan, and we are waiting on Rachel to have Roselyn. This picture was taken last weekend at Clint and Rachel's baby shower. It's going to be fun to get one of all three girls (in person) soon!

Cassidee was wearing her Texas Longhorn outfit that night as Texas played Ohio State in hopes of getting a victory. Instead all she got was crabby towards the end of the night. She parties hard and then needs a nap! (Poor Clay, he tried to cheer her up)

I saw this on someone else's blog. You can go to www.snapshirts.com and you'll find the "Blogger's" word cloud over on the right. You put in your blog address and it puts out a word cloud with all the words you have used the most in your blog. It is interesting what comes up. The bigger the word, the more often it is used. For some reason the word "mean" shows up pretty big in my word cloud... Hmmm....

This new toy has changed our lives!

This is a great invention! Cassidee will sit in her Johnny-Jump-Up for hours! I don't know if that is what they are still called, but someone has made a fortune off of something that was around 27 years ago when I was a baby and it is still going strong today. Cassidee LOVES to bounce in this thing. She won't even stand in our laps anymore without bouncing! Jeremy will sit and play the guitar and the faster he plays, the faster she jumps! It's hilarious!

Sunday School

This past Sunday marked the very first time that Cassidee went to Sunday school at church. She and I were in Decatur for the day and since we were actually early enough to church we decided to go to Sunday school. I wish I could say that I have no idea what went on, but I stayed. She was the only baby that showed up, and it was around her normal breakfast time, so there was no telling how she was going to act. Of course she was totally fine! I stayed behind her where she couldn't see me and she didn't look for me one single time! (It made me sad, but also proud that she was a big girl) She loved singing the songs and learning to "brush" her "teeth." Maybe next time I'll learn to let go...

Footy Pajamas!

Cassidee is a big fan of the footy jommies! Who wouldn't love them? You're feet are warm all night and you don't need a blankie!

Bed Head!

See, here's my feet!

New tricks I learned...

I learned how to do this selective colorization thing on our computer and now I'm completely obsessed with it. Jeremy says I'm overdoing it a bit, but I think it is so fun to turn a picture black and white and then add a little color back toit. Here are a couple of my first tries at it. Hopefully with time I'll get a little more creative!

"Yes! My bottle is great and I eat like a champ!"

Last night Cassidee was taking her last bottle of the night and had her left arm straight up in the air. I tried to gently lay it down and she would put it right back up. It cracked me up. She was pretty much asleep and just trying to finish up the bottle, but it was like she was congratulating herself on a great job taking that bottle!

Bathing and Grooming--We love it!

Cassidee LOVES bath time! She'd stay in there for hours if we'd let her, I think. She splashes like crazy and gets water in the floor. Funny how your husband gets out of the shower and gets water on the floor and it's annoying....but when your child does it....well, it's perfectly okay! :-)
Hmmm, this duck looks like fun. (She makes great cross-eyes!)
We even have a fireman ducky....what did you expect?!

After bath and jommies (or "pajamas" to most other people) we brush hair. Most of the time the top ends up in a mo-hawk. We like to experiment with different styles!

My hair is done! Time to eat the brush!

Time Flies

5 months old!
I can't believe it. Time has gone by sooooo fast. It seems like she was just able to hold her head up on her own and now we have a hard time getting her to lay it down for a nap! I love watching all the new things she can do. She talks all day long. She always has something to say to someone...she will tell you what she thinks, that's for sure! She rolls over. She is trying to sit up on her own. She is close. I don't think it will be much longer. She is sleeping in her crib in her room now. It was needed, even though I am having separation anxiety! She loves watching her baby Einstein DVD's and playing in her exersaucer. I recently put her in a sling facing out. She loves that. She is always wanting to be held, so I think this will be easier on all of us.
What can I say? She's adorable!

What a Fun/Busy Weekend!!!

Cassidee is very excited that her Aunt Kelsey is home from Camp Deer Run. She sure did miss her all summer. Kelsey came over on Saturday and played all day. They had fun reading books and playing on the floor!

Saturday night we went to a wedding shower. It was fun to see lots of friends. When the shower part was over a lot of people decided to get in the pool. Cassidee didn't have her suit, but we stripped her down
and she had fun splashing her feet.
**Just for the record, we took her diaper off and Clay Spencer
took her out in the water...
now she can't deny that she has gone skinny dippin'!!**

More fun with the book...blogger put the pictures out of order.....We also ate at Fuddruckers with some friends. Cassidee was highly entertained in the arcade. With the help of her bumbo seat she could almost reach the steering wheel.
Hmmm, this game looks fun....

Where did everyone go??

3 1/2 months later....

Cassidee's big sign announcing her birth was finally put up on the billboard. My doctor that delivered her puts all the babies names up there that he delivered. Anyway, she was born in March and they finally called us at the beginning of July and told us her name was up on the sign.
It's kinda fun to see your name "in lights!"

4 month stats...

Cassidee went to her 4 month check up today. I think I was more sad than she was about the shots. She got all 4 of them, cried, but was easily calmed when I pulled out a bottle for her! The doctor said to start her on some food, so we are going to give that a shot soon. She is already eating rice cereal, so we're going to add some green veggies next week and make things interesting!!!

Here are her stats for this check up:
Height: 26" (95%)
Weight: 15 lbs. 6 oz. (75%)
Head: 41 cm (50%)

Beach Baby!

We are finally home from all our trips! We had a great time in Galveston! We ate a lot of great food. I think mom and dad had fun watching Cassidee while Jeremy and I got to hang out with Kayla (my sister) and her boyfriend Camron. The 4 of us spent one morning bay fishing. Too bad all we caught was a sun burn!!!
We spent part of the next day at Moody Gardens. We loved walking through the aquariums and seeing all the fish. Jeremy and I got our picture taken with a shark in the background!

We also got to go up to Houston and spend a few hours with the Beaver family. Baby Reagan is so beautiful and we are so glad we got to spend a little bit of time with her. Jodi and I waited a little too long to take pictures of Reagan and Cassidee together, but I don't think we would have gotten a 2 week old and a 4 month old to cooperate very well anyway! In this picture Reagan has had enough and Cassidee is wide-eyed and wondering what Reagan is crying about!

On our last day there we took Cassidee to the beach. I can't say that she was thrilled, but she sure was intreagued by the waves. I'm not sure she liked them touching her feet, though.

We had a fabulous time and loved that Cassidee's first vacation was to Galveston, a family favorite. Thanks mom and dad for the trip!

Pictures to go with the previous posts...

Here's a picture of Cassidee at her first rodeo. She is with the rodeo clown. I guess she isn't scared of clowns...she let him hold her for a minute.

She even got to take her very first horse ride that night. One of the pick-up men took her riding around the arena. After he gave her back to Jeremy and we were standing by the fence she tried to reach over and grab the horse. I'm sure her first words will be, "Grandaddy, will you buy me a pony?"

How could anyone resist that?

Next comes Cassidee's first 4th of July. We had tons of fun at the parade and watching fireworks later that night.

Here are a couple of pictures of Cassidee at the lake. It was her first time to go to the lake, first time to wear a life jacket (which she didn't like very much), and her first time to ride on a boat.

She took a great nap on the boat!
